lyrics
Takes her hair out his mouth with some in trepidation,
To see what He’d make of this strange situation,
He pulls her head closer to kiss her again,
And her hair will return to where it has been.
She flings back her head in her giddy excitement,
Throws caution to winds when her senses are heightened,
Not the first time she’s forgone that quiet night in,
But she’s convinced herself to just keep on smiling.
She gathers herself to stare out the window,
To the stars up above that she used to dream of.
The stain on the sheet takes the mood down a level,
To the realisation she’s given in to her devil.
She picks up her things and sulks to the bathroom,
To wash off the guilt that is etched onto her skin,
The memory will linger but deep down inside her,
As she says to herself “now just keep on smiling”.
I know that she’ll kill me if she ever finds out,
But you led me on – she screams to her man,
After all of these years it’s finally clicked,
No more late night ventures to go get her fix.
The stress that she feels led her into his arms,
Even though it’s her one friend that he’s cheating on,
There’s no corner left that she can now hide in,
Put on a brave face now she’ll “just keep on smiling”
Goes back to work just the very next day,
To glances and whispers that all come her way,
She streams out the office, grabs a handful of pills,
Decides ‘I’ve taken enough’ and she takes off her heels.
She tears to the roof to survey her surroundings,
Such is the world that she has now drowned in,
She flies off the edge to the street she resides in,
And thinks to herself “at least I kept smiling...”
